My Morning Jacket-Evil Urges – These Kentucky rockers may be the best unknown band in rock music today.  Their fifth album, Evil Urges, steers away from their earlier classic southern rock and into a new realm of modern music. Debuting in the Top 10 on the Billboard Charts in its first week, Evil Urges brings unforgettable riffs, loud vocals, and funk into one amazing compilation.  The first single, “I’m Amazed,” exemplifies the band’s signature sound with melodic guitars and elevated vocals.  Singer Jim James pulls off a talented falsetto in the title track, “Evil Urges,” as well as the 70’s-like funk track, “Highly Suspicious,” with a distorted bass and harmonious guitars.  However, My Morning Jacket show their softer side in tracks “Librarian” and “Thank You Too!” both with lyrics that paint visual and descriptive stories.  The two heaviest songs off the album, “Aluminum Park,” and “Remnants” show signature My Morning Jacket guitar riffs as well as face-melting solos.  Evil Urges has the classic My Morning Jacket feel, but introduces a variety of new and experimental sounds, making this band one of rock’s rising stars.
