Let’s Put Some Glam Back In Rock

I borrow lots of CDs from our local libraries.   I go fairly often and always find something to fit my mood.   I’ll borrow a couple of discs, bring ‘em home, burn ‘em, and return ‘em.  I’ve actually discovered quite a few classic CDs that have passed me by for one reason or another.   Recently, I came across a copy of T. Rex’s “The Slider.”   I popped it in the car CD player and within seconds, I had it cranked way up.   Got me to thinkin’ about how overlooked and under appreciated glam rock is.   Maybe it was the guys in platform shoes, the curly hair and top hats, or the makeup that caused people to not take it too seriously.   But let’s focus on the music, folks.   T. Rex, Ziggy-era Bowie, and Mott the Hoople come to mind – pumping bass, a crisp drum sound, distortion-free electric guitars, and slightly nasal vocals with words you can actually understand – it all adds up to some terrific rock music.   What’s so goofy about that?
